View Full Version : Vertex Puratek 100 Delux - pressure gauge?

I've just installed my brand new Vertex Puratek 100 Delux RO unit & was wondering if it is normal for the needle on the pressure gauge to vibrate whilst in operation. I've viewed a few reviews on You Tube & everyone else's needle seem to sit steady. I'm getting a similar pressure (just below 100psi) & the booster pump is running quietly but am just concerned about the vibrating needle.
I'm in the plumbing trade myself & always thought it should sit steady whilst running - may just be a vertex thing.
Any thoughts on the matter would be gratefully received.

Mine does the same on the 100GPD model; not sure it matters. The pressure gauge on my BRS does the same after the booster pump as well.

I have the same unit. Mine also does the same thing. I wouldn't worry. It's been in use about two years now, and still working fine. Nice piece of equipment. I believe it may be the booster pump fluctuating a little.

How often do you change your RO membrane and what's your tap TDS? I hear this unit goes through membranes like crazy due to the flow restrictor being so small.

With my TDS of ~400; looks like it will be every month. :(

Still on original filters/membrane. My tap TDS is 110. My finished water is 2 per Hanna meter. Vertex meter on unit shows 0 TDS....

I'm on a water softener, so I guess that helps.....

I don't believe water softeners lower TDS. They merely replace Ca++ and Mg++ for K+ or Na+.

I think pre-RO TDS makes all the difference with how long the membrane will last. Hence why some people love and others hate this unit.

I just got the 100gpd and the pressure gauge is leaking like crazy from the top back of it where there is that small hole any idea?
