I have been having problems keeping SPS in my display tank for the last five months. After having a successful tank for approximately 2 years I had a SPS crash. All of the other corals are doing well. I have noticed that my rocks are covered in detritus and are clearly very dirty. In that some of my larger rocks do not have any corals on them at this time I was thinking of taking them out of the tank and cleaning them well. What is the best way to do this?

You could just use a turkey baster to clean all detritus off the rocks prior to water changes.

Yes, this won't remove everything. But it would keep you from breaking down your aqua scape.

Yeap, SPS require super super clean water with lots of water changes.....if LR is saturated with nutrients you'll save a lot of money ditching SPS and going over to LPS. i ditched SPS 2 years ago and (knock on wood) havent lost a single LPS in 2 yrs
