Today I found a dime in my filter sock, it must have come from the washing machine.
It was only there 2 days.
Do you think it could have caused any damage or contamination?

Probably not any damage was done.

Nah, not a chance of damage. Only concern I would have would be left over detergent in the machine.

I'd be worried if it were an older penny (back when they were pure copper).
A dime should be fine!

Even a new penny would be an issue I believe. Since the exterior is copper, it just has a zinc core.

Thanks for the replies, the dime was only a bit discolored. So I'm sure there was minimal corrosion.
I did a 20% water change today, and added some "chemipure blue" in my reactor just to be safe.
As far as washing my filter sock, a very well respected reefer told me not to use detergent. He told me to wash the sock inside out using only cold water and bleach, wash a second time using only cold water. Then let it dry in the sun.

Even if it was a penny, how much copper would leach in two days?

Just FYI... dimes are 90% copper...

I found a dime in my sand bed one time. I'm guessing a kid. It never caused any issues. Mine was in way longer

Does anything look angry? Anything dying? If not, you're fine.

I put my socks through the washer on Sanitize...hottest water and no bleach or cleaning agents at all. They come out great in one go.
