Hello all,

A little background info: I have had this 65 gallon tank running for about 6 years years now, which I am in the process of resurrecting.

After about the first year I was given a Purple Tang by a good friend of mine.

(Sorry for the long post, Tldr version at the bottom)

Going away to school led to some lack of care; I had family doing feedings for me but they couldn't handle water changes or anything else besides daily feedings and topping off the water. Over the years I sadly lost all of my coral, my Maroon clownfish, and my Midas Blenny jumped out of the tank.

I finally moved into an apartment where I am allowed to keep an aquarium and I have moved it in. During the move I lost a psuedochromis and that left me with my Purple Tang as my only fish.

After a bit of research and a few visits to the LFS, I decided to bring home a Starry Blenny. I was concerned that the Tang would be aggressive towards him, but I had it backwards.

The Blenny is not aggressive at all until it comes to feeding time. He's pulled food out of the tangs mouth and nips at her sides when she gets too close. I am worried that if this is an ongoing issue that my tang will eventually die and I do not want to see that happen. I like the blenny but I am not willing to watch him kill my tang who has been through it all.

Here are my questions for you experienced folks: Can nips from the blenny kill the tang? Now that I know that it's somewhat aggressive should I return it or give it away? Are there any other recommendations that I haven't thought of?

Here is a picture of the Tang, you can kind of see the bite marks behind her pectoral fin.

Tldr: New addition Blenny is nipping at my 5-6 year old Tang, what do I do?

I just came across your thread, as I am trying to decide if I want to add a starry blenny.

Did you end up taking the blenny out? Is your tang okay?
