I have been out of the hobby for a while and want to get back into it slowly. I am thinking Biocube 29 might be a good start for me this time around.

Pro’s and Con’s for biocube?
Any must do modifications?
Any recommendation will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Bare bottom, 4 liters of Matrix in the middle chamber, felt pad for mechanical filtration over the second chamber, water change as necessary, I've tried almost everything else, went back to the basics.

I would add a felt pad for mechanical Filtration in chamber 2. A skimmer in chamber 1 of you can fit it

I have a coralife biocube 29 setup for my gf. Take the stock bioballs out of the middle chamber, take out the false bottom. And for filtration im using intank media basket, top shelf I have filter floss, middle shelf I have purigen and bottom shelf im running chemipure elite. I took out the stock return pump and put a maxi jet 1200 in its place.the tank is stocked with 2 clowns and a TON of LPS corals. I change about 3 gallons a week. With the filter setup the tank completed its cycle very quickly. In 6 months of running coraline algae started growing on the back wall. Tank NEVER had green hair algae. I strongly believe the intank media basket with purigen and chemi pure elite is the key to the biocube being so spotless

No I purchased it from INtank media baskets. Well worth the money in my opinion. They also have install videos on their website

Are the stock lights decent?

I had a heater in chamber 1, gutted the slide in filter and used a piece of filter material attached to it, bag of chemipure in the middle and then just returned the water to tank. Keeping up on the water changes work wonders but fish can jump into the back area so I created an acrylic spacer to stop them and it attached across the entire back wall. It was an inch or so high. I also added a sapphire skimmer into the middle chamber after a few months and that really made a difference. That little BC skimmer they sell with the wood airstone was more of a PIA then anything. The Stock PC lights are decent but back when nanocreations was in business they sold an upgrade kit to add 2 more lights. That was a few years before LED's came to town. The HQI I never tried but I have seen them and they are nice.

Fish can jump into the back chamber on the oceanic version but not the coralife version. Stock lights are working well. All my hammer, torch, frogspawn/octospawn, favia and zoanthids are doing great. I dunno if stock lighting will be sufficient for SPS corals tho

A Tunze 9001 would fit in there. Mushrooms are easy corals.
