What's a better protein skimmer a bubble magus curve 5 or a coralife 125...it's going on a 60g reef with 7 fish just want people's input tia.

Many people here love the Aquamax. I have a Reef Octopus 110INT on my 75 with 7 fish (including a Kole, which is a poop machine) and it pulls mud, not light tea. I haven't had to adjust it once in 6 months. It's also fairly quiet and has never overflowed.

If it's between those two it's a Bubble magus hands down, coralife skimmers are very touchy and not very good as far as skimming goes. I use to have a coralife on my 125g yrs ago and would never get one again. Now I am a SRO guy

i've never had a bubble magus skimmer, but i did have the coralife 125 and hated it.

i used it both as HOB and in sump. had lots of issues with it overflowing randomly, and it didn't really do too well pulling skim. ended up giving it away to a friend who was without a skimmer, he modded it with an air pump on the intake or something to help mitigate overflow, but it died shortly after. only lasted about 18 months total.

IMO, it would be safe to say that every skimmer mentioned so far is better than the Coralife... and a little more expensive. I would not let the idea of saving a few bucks steer you away from better skimmers though. You'll pay a way more over the long run if you try to go cheap here.

More bang for your buck = Eshopps w/ Sicce motors. On a Reef tank I'd put a Eshopps PSK 100 on your 60 gal for around $150 or less on sale @ Drs. Smith and Foster.

Sweet thanks for input actually found a RO nwb110 for 150 so I think I might go with that good choice?

If not the RO, I got a SCA302 rated 180g on my 65g for $170 shipped brand new. Beast of a skimmer. Been on for less than a month and it broke in easy and I just emptied a whole cup of black nasty tonight.

i had Curve5 before and upgraded the tank with a Vortex 150 skimmer. Vortex is more sensitive than Curve 5 for the water change or even sock change...

Why is it called blue pearl? I don't notice any blue in it. Bought the house used so I don't know the actual color lol

Forgot to mention that pic was only 1/2 week of skimming. I should really use my collection canister collecting dust in my garage.

I like how it has a handle on the cup. Looks like the grossest cup of coffee I've ever seen.

The best part of waking up, is skimmate in your cup?
