Diatom question

I just set my 60g cube up within the last week and my cycle is just now starting the ammonia is just now showing but I have diatoms all over my sand bed like crazy. I didn't think you could or would typically have diatoms this early in a cycle any opinions?

You probably have lights on top of your system. It's recommended to turn them off during cycle.
