I went to a frag swap and bought the rock in the picture with soft corals attached. I should have done a better job of keeping track of what these are but I'm embarrassed to say I didn't.

I'm pretty sure the green soft coral in the upper right is star polyp. I also know the mushroom. But the ones with the large brown circular and small brown circular corals I'd like to identify. Also the pinkish/purplish coral between the mystery brown corals I'd like to identify.

Any help would be appreciated. They are all doing very well in the tank.

My tank has be up since July. These were added in September.

Thank you.

Going on a limb here but the zoanthids on the left hand side of the pink things look like a a version of the people eater group maybe red people eater zoas and the ones on the left hand side are too far to be determined and the pinkish ones i believe are also star polyps not green of course as those are the ones in the back but just a standard version of star polyps.

If u ever touch the palys, wash ur hands immediately. Palytoxin is one of the most toxic chemicals known to man

Good idea to wear exam gloves (from pharmacy) whenever working with rock or corals. Easier on your hands AND the corals.

DO NOT rub your eyes until you've taken gloves off and washed your hands and arms with soap.

But don't panic. Back in the 80's this was one of the principal corals we could keep alive. We all had them and nobody I knew ever had problems with the toxin. Just take reasonable care if you decide to frag (split) the colony.

Thanks. Very interesting info, especially about the toxins. I'll get the exam gloves.

Anyone know what those stems are that are growing out of the green star polyp on the top right?

It's kind of hard to tell, but if I had to guess I'd go with either a sponge of some sort or macro algae. Can you get a closer picture of them?

What are the best water parameters to grow zonathids?
