Sandbed for coral qt?

Hello, I'm setting up a qt tank for 6 frags and some snails. Main tank has ich and am doing hypo in it (i'm set on this, and I've asked about it in other threads already).

I have some tropic eden reef flakes left over, and I was wondering about putting them into the qt to help keep AK stable. Anyone know how much of a difference it really makes?

I think you would be better off just dosing something like Seachem Reef Builder or baking soda if need be. Adding the sand is fine, but your not going to see a whole lot of "buffering" IMO. The salt your using may provide you with the correct parameters to begin with.
