I recently setup an automatic dosing system for my alk and calcium. One drips on the hour, the other drips 30 minutes after and both will drip all day. I programmed my alk drip to stop dripping if my pH goes above 8.3. Most of the day that is fine, but once about 8pm hits and my lights have been on for a few hours my pH wants to push above 8.3 so my alk drip basically stops until after my lights go off.
My pH hovers around 8.05 right before my lights go on for the day and will finally hit 8.3 a few hours after my lights are on, about 5 hours into the light cycle. I've noticed that my alk has dropped from about 9.5 to about 8-8.5 since the dosing pump gets shut off for a few hours.
What should I do? Should I just keep my dosing pump on even if my pH gets above 8.3? Should I set it for something like 8.5? Should I change my dosing schedule so that I'm not dosing while lights are on?
