I am setting up my second reef tank. It is a 50g tank with no sump. I bought an internal skimmer Tunze 9012 and there will be a thin layer of live sand to be added. Just planning to keep some LPS and four fish, a pair of ocellaris clown and two sunburst anthias. Since tank is small so i like not to overcrowd it with live rocks but want sufficient live rocks for filtration purpose. Roughly how much live rocks will i need for filtration purpose then?

Pound per gallon is a good rule to follow if you are new to the hobby. My 108 gallon with 40 gallon sump has maybe 20lbs of man made ceramic rock.

Generally speaking 1-2 lbs per gallon, could be a bit more or less depending on how porous the rock your using is.
