6 months ago I upgraded my 2 AI SOL Blues to Hydras. I had the LED pucks and controller boards leftover.

While two fixtures over the tank was enough light I could see that there was not enough overlap. I decided to add a DIY fixture using the leftover AI SOL Blue parts.

I bought a heatsink from Rapidled.

It has a fan included.

So I mounted the pucks to the heatsink and added 80 degree lenses.

Here is the tank with the two upgraded Hydras. It will be interesting to see how it looks with the SOL Blue added.

I will add the wireless adapter so I can control it with my AI Director.

I'm still going to add 2 T5 bulbs as well. Just to be on the safe side of growing corals and limiting shadows.

How did you mount the pucks and what did the heat sink run you? Need to do this myself.

The heat sink is the RapidLed premium Heat sink and it cost $40 plush shipping. I used their Arctic Alumina Thermal Adhesive, which was $7. This stuff is a permanent adhesive which was ok for me. It was easy to use.

Adding the light I made from the left over parts has really helped with the shadowing that happens when using LEDS.

Can I see a pic of this all together over your tank please? I'm trying to figure out what to do with my SOLs. Adding some T5s might be a bit cheaper than doing the hydra52 upgrade.
