Was just checking out the tank, usually when the light turns off my LPS will retract a bit. I looked at my healthy hammer and saw some weird stuff (see below):

As you can see there are some green/tan/brown strings that seems to have tied itself around the stalks of the hammer skeleton. It even has some "flower-bud" look-alikes. For the life of me I can't figure out what this is. I did not see them last night, and could only see them now since the tentacles retracted. Does anybody know what they are? Good stuff or bad stuff?

Water params are not out of line, just did all tests today.

pH 7.8
amm 0
nitrate 20 (still battling)
phosphate 0.1 or less (API)
magnesium 1250
calcium 400
alk 8
salinity 1.024

If someone knows, please let me know! Thanks :)

Actually kind of looks like some upset-not-getting-light clove polyps encrusting on there...

Yes the little buds are clove polyps, and the tan "strings" look to be tube worms of some sort. Need better pics to be sure.

I think the strings may be the runners between the polyps? This is an interesting one...going to guess this coral was purchased from another hobbyist? Possibly one with lots of clove polyps, lol? I wouldn't worry...as long as the euphyllia stays healthy, the cloves shouldn't be able to overtake it. :)

Kinda looks like a spaghetti worm...

Will take better pics when the lights come on. Thanks for reassuring me that at least this is not a (likely) harmful substance. :)
