Recently I noticed some bright pink spots along one of the edges of my Brain coral. It would also be nice if I could get an ID on it, I purchased it as a moon coral for $20 as a frag but looking on Live Aquaria it seems to be listed as a war coral. Anyway the ID is not a huge deal I just want to make sure my coral isn't sick and that I don't need to move it before I replace the rock back on top of the apoxy plug

(I had the picture embedded but it was way too big.

My guess is that the skeleton was exposed at one time and coralline algae grew over it. Have you tried removing it with a brush or anything?

Well my LFS Frags from their display tanks and also orders from some online vendors but primarily gets their frags in house. If it was recently fragged it could take a while for the Coralline algae to grow (which would be why I am just noticing it) and it would make sense the skeleton would be exposed. I have had it about a month or so and no I haven't touched it for fear of upsetting it and causing more harm than good.

It looks healthy to me so I wouldn't be too concerned about it at this point.
