I had a 75g freshwater tank for 5 years at the same spot in my house. I've always though I had set it up perpendicular to the floor joists.
I just sold it to make way to a new reef tank. I'm looking at a 90G + 20g sump.
To my surprise, while working in the basement, I realized that my tank was parallel to the joists. Now, I'm wondering if the floor will support the additional weight of the new tank...
Is there a way to calculate what kind of weight a floor will support, if I'm not perpendicular to the joists?
(I hope my question was clear enough... :) )
Thanks!
