I have the Red Sea test kit for Ca, ALK, and MAG.
I found the ALK To hard to get it right on it.
The Mag its to annoying to test.
Calcium its easy to read.
I bought it a Salifert ALK test kit.
Its much easy to read it.
Now witch one you think its better?
Sometimes the easiest doesn't mean it's better.

I got always the same results on Alk and Ca with both kits. I have both and I use one or another. I did parallel testing and got the same results.

The Salifert alkalinity kit seemed to work well for me, and it agreed with the IO test down to the error limits. That said, there are problems with all brands at some point in time or the other.

I tried the salifert and its much easier to read. Sometimes with the Red Sea I have to do it twice....

Then use the salifert. It is excelent.

I also have the hanna checker. Yes !!! I went crazy a couple of months ago with an alk/Ca issue I had and got the 3 brands kits. For Alk I got the same results. For Ca the hanna was more difficult to use.

Hanna has numbers, but is more expensive.

I just saw you live in Nashua, NH. I live in Westford, MA, 9 miles far away. We can meet and do some readings together, if you want.

This is my tank today :http://www.reefsanctuary.com/forums/front-page-news/92826-october-totm.html

It is still maturing and I am having some Nitrates and PO4 issues I am working on.

Cheers

Yes ! I was just lucky. This tank is still maturing, but a member decided to nominate it and I was selected.

This picture is from this Monday. I am fighting now an issue with Nitrates/PO4 and I took a picture before leaving home and will see how it's looks when I am back in the weekend. You can read my last pages of the thread to see the issue.

Ps: the bird nest in the right has almost bleached and I believe is my water issue. I am not sure it will survive.

Aren't you a member of the local group, Boston Reefers ? There are many members from NH.

Another member postulated me for the tank of the quarter. It was a surprice. But this one I am going to lose it. The other guy has an excelent and already well established SPS tank.
