Food options for moray eels

I have 2 eels, a snowflake and a zebra. Ive been feeding them silversides since day 1. I know id hate eating chicken everyday for my whole life so what other options do i have? I know people buy seafood from walmart but what should i look for and what should i stay away from? Thanks, nathan

Those species aren't heavy fish eaters in the wild. Raw unseasoned seafood items like octopus or shrimp would be much better, and is usually pretty cheap to get at asian markets if you've got one nearby.

Both would eat shrimp, scallops, and squid readily. Octopus is fine also.

^This. I feed my zebra raw shrimp once every 4-5 days. He will also eat silversides and squid and scallops. I haven't tried any crab yet but I'm sure he would eat that as well

When I had mine, my LFS would give me the more undesirable "hitchhiker crabs" that people would bring in. That zebra went NUTS for them. They'll also quite happily take live crawfish, though I wouldn't recommend that as a frequent food item.

Once every 4-5 days? I feed mine everyday. If i skip a day they start going crazy in the tank.

Yeah sometimes longer... Once a day?? What in Gods name are you feeding it everyday? Matter of fact I don't even see my eel everday

Ah well that explains it then. I'm talking whole raw shrimp, two of them. When I feed mine silversides he will eat close to 10 of them at a time. Mine will come out in the tank when I feed my fish if it's hungry, otherwise I never see it.
