The labels on the tank were hard to read, & the receipt just said "Coral".

It was also tagged, funny thing about that... The fishing line used for the tag had completely grown into the coral, to the point that I could only snip out about 2MM worth of it + the tag..

You know... The mods should really put together a sticky thread with photos, names, and tells for identification

anyways, enough blabber.

:( had a teeny tiny eagle eye zoas, but he didn't make it.

Only opened up for two days, after coming in the mail, then never opened again... I did see what looked like possible new buds forming(?) they looked like red hairs w/ bubbles on the end...

Anyways!

Thank you in advance for identifying my new beauty.

That's a hammer coral

Thanks!

hm... hammer's are rated as being aggressive, but he only has ~9 inches distance between my two other corals... Guess we will see what happens... I intend to step up to a 100-150G by the end of Q1.

One other thing...

I thought Anemone and coral were different, but someone called this an anemone the other day... Has ~2.5 inches of skeleton under all those tentacles.

I think that's a torch coral not an anemone

That's what I thought as well.

Also, my clowns never got even close to it, which further had me confused when someone called it an Anemone.

Does the bottom of the 2nd picture have a skeleton underneath like a circle plate? Looks like a long tentacle plate coral kinda if it's not a torch coral
