Hi I have purchased a nano tank which I just need to pick up. It has these 2 built in lights one with blue and other white bulbs. I'm not sure in watts how powerful they are as I'm picking the tank up tomorrow, but thought I'd ask if I should mod the inside with a new unit or if there are available marine bulbs which I can purchase for this unit already?

Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

Couple of things... 1. What do you plan on keeping in the tank? The answer to that will determine whether question 2 would even be needed which is.... 2. What is the power (and just as important) and age of the bulbs (run time, not sit time)? The seller should have no problem providing that info.

Aside from that, I'm admittingly a DIY Mod guy, so my advice following these answers will probably be biased.

Unless that tank is very new, you'll find lots of sites and advice on gutting the entire thing to get better performance (which may or may not be needed depending on your specific circumstances).

A little more info and I bet you'll get tons of responses!

I have just brought the tank back home I'm out at the moment and I'll give the specs when I get back. I'm wanting soft and lps corals only. I was thinking I might consider is it rapidled with the 12 led pack. Not sure which lighting combination I should go for which I'm hoping I can get some suggestions on that.

I'm happy to hear your diy suggestion Fritzz1111.

Sounds good. Please include distance from fixture to water too.

I will let you know of the specs tomorrow including measurements of the insides of the lighting area, to see how big of a led board is required.

Will Rapidled cut to size a led board with all 12 holes for led's to be soldered in to suit my nano's hood?

For the colours they do the 6 Cool White Cree XP-G2 LEDs & 6 Royal Blue Cree XT-E LEDs. Shall I change some of the colours as they mention it can be changed. I'm thinking 1 uv led with one other colour but not sure. I would rather have the use of led's for coral growth rather than change them for a more pleasing aesthetic look. Which other colour different to uv, white and blue will still give out similar coral growth?
