I have a pest in my tank. I am told it is not aiptasia or majano. I believe they are an anemone of some sort. Can someone maybe provide some insight? Thanks!

Get rid of it? People pay money for those. It's going to grow into a gorgeous anenmone. Look up Ball Anenmone and check it out. Yours is prettier than the ones I've seen for sale.

Seems like they can be somewhat aggressive eating inverts and fish. If that's the case seems like a species that would not be safe. I have about 25 or so (that I can see) and they are multiplying

+1 on ball anemone

So based upon what I have read and based upon the fact they are multiplying- I find new ones each day - I think it might be good to get ride of them or at least reduce their number. I want to thin the herd. Would a file fish work?

Looks like strawberry anemone. Everyone usually sees them at some point, then they disappear. They are reef safe IME, but a filefish may not be. I wouldn't freak out, just enjoy the fun of unexpected fauna!

Definitely a ball anemone, I have some now and in the past. Never been a pest and come out at night. They stay too small to eat any inhabitants.

Ok I will let them go. Thanks for all the input
