I am looking to get the following tank build and got quoted on acrylic being 4.5cm thick (1.7") doesnt that look a bit on the thick side?
was thinking more myself at between 1 and 1 1/2" thick?

1.7" is correct for the large L shaped sides and 1" is okay for the rest. Without Eurobracing even 1.7" will bow a little over time.

depth is the most critical part of determining the thickness needed. That tank is almost 5 feet deep. Thats a large bit of pressure.

Youre average 3 foot tall tank is made of 1" acrylic with a brace.

can anyone give me an idea on how much an acrylic tank of those dimensions would cost about in the US. I have been quoted a price here in Thailand and I know acrylic is not the norm here as all aquarium are being build in glass here but it looked very expensive to me. So anyone with a good idea on how much this would cost in the US
