I picked up an 8" Naso tang in the very beginning of the year.

Dripped acclimated him into the QT tank and immediately started feeding.

Ran a dose of Prazi Pro due to string poop (only lasted a couple of minuets) but I ran the treatment just to be sure.

Ran two weeks of copper and checked the dosing amount every other day which was spot on.

Eating well so I thought it was time to transfer him over to the display tank after him being in the QT for over a month.

I have been keeping the DT and QT the same temp and salinity. I did not test the QT for any other parameters since it was the QT.

Filled up a bucket half way, was able to scoop him up in a container very quickly so I did not stress him and carried him over to the DT which I was again able to scoop him up and place him in the DT.

He started to pick at alage and was very active. The next morning the same but he didnt really seem interested in food. Later that night, he started doing cart wheels turning end over end and then swimming sideways. I have never seen anything like it so I was able to transfer him back to the QT which is where he passed.

I have no idea what I did wrong and I am very upset spending not only money on him but my time as well.

Thoughts?

Was it a blonde Naso? I have had a lot of trouble with blonde Nasos. I suspect it is due to cyanide collection. They seem to do well for a while, then mysteriously die.

I haven't had the best luck with nasos either. I've just never been able to get one to eat well. Mine would nip at nori sheets, but that's it. I won't try another.

Have you tested your water parameters in DT?

***. I had the same issue with mine. In a ht with CP and did fine, TTM did fine, dosed prazi did fine, back into a clean, cycled QT... Died next day. Absurd.

Tagging along.

Tangs move really freakin' fast. Not sure how you'd manage to net one, let alone the numbers a collector would want. My guess is a lot of them are cyanide-collected, which would explain that type of sudden death. Also, if nothing is wrong outside, it stands to reason that something is wrong inside.
