View Full Version : Has anyone perfomed a double FW dip on wrasse with flukes?

I just saw my wrasse flash against the rocks near the eye region so I can tell the flukes are still bothering her. I decided to do a FW dip for 5 min and couldn't believe what I saw! I must have counted 15-20 flukes! Now, her eye is still cloudy and I have her in a bucket so I can easily dip her again. She's recovering in the bucket for now and it's been about 15 min since her dip. Should or can I FW dip her again to see if more flukes fall off? I wonder why the Prazi isn't working? I suppose to be fair it's only been one day but I thought they would die within 4-6 hours? Thanks.

How exactly did you dose the prazipro? Did you do two treatments back to back? Did you check the expiration date of the PP on the bottle?

I added 4 teaspoons to my 75g tank with 20 g sump. I figure I have a total of around 70-80 gallons of actual water. I used a brand new 1oz bottle from Amazon but I can't make out the date. I added it yesterday so it's only been a day.

Treatment calls for 5 days so after that retreat and observe your wrasse closely. If the PP isn't nice and pink when you use it it's probably bad

Yep, will do. I just ordered another bottle from Amazon as I ran out this morning. I'll make sure to check the date.

Also make sure you shake it vigorously.

I don't think the fish would like that :). Hehe I kid, I kid, yes I shaked the bottle for almost a min. Btw, I decided against another dip but will FW dip her in a couple days if her eye doesn't clear up by then.

Do you have a pic of the flukes on the wrasse???

No but I wish I would have taken pics of them in the bowl after I fw dipped the wrasse. They were flat, oval and opaque in color.

Sounds like flukes to me

Were they visible on the fish, I'm asking because my melanarus is acting weird and not eating...

They were virtually invisible on the fish. I couldn't believe it when they came off.

Someone needs to take a video of this in the future - i find it hard to fathom there could be so many fluke but invisible?

Monogeans usually can not be seen on a fish as they are transparent. They turn opaque once they are exposed to FW. As seen on this fish..

Hello,

Is it possible to use prazipro in a DT, with SPSs?

Thank you

Hello,

Is it possible to use prazipro in a DT, with SPSs?

Thank you

My tank is 99% sps with over 25-30 frags/colonies and it has not skipped a beat. I was also worried about the prazi but I remember that Interceptor now has prazi in it and I had absolutely zero problems with it. Today is day 3 of the prazi treatment and so far so good.

You're very welcome, csilverio! I just got home and it looks like my Earlei's eye is clear! Wahoo! It looks like the combination of the fw dip and prazipro took care of it. I also received a new bottle of Prazipro from Amazon dated 7/2019:) Plenty of time to dose it before it expires, hehe. I'm going to perform one more full dose (4 teaspoons) on fri and wait 5 days. I was going to do 3 doses but I think 2 should be enough.
