Is your QT Newly set up?

been set up for about six months or so.. I do rotate a lot of new salt water into the system.. I do copper.. then pull 90 water out and replace with new ESV water mix.. personifer in QT has no frayed fins.. so thinking water quality.. or fungi.. or food or lack of veggie matter.. eats like pig and all else with him good.. just nervous to put in DT for fear of it being something else that might be contagious.

Looks like fin nips to me. What other fish are in the QT besides the Personifier?

A good candidate for nipping.

ok... just saw larger hogfish can get aggressive.. might be him in the early morning hours.. he is a fully mature peppermint. might not be a good idea to add him to display tank with fairy wrasses.

Well, the alternatives to consider are:

Ragged, torn, or missing fins
Research:
a) Fin Rot and Tail Rot (bacterial)
b) Marine Ich (parasite)
c) Ammonia Poisoning in marine fish
d) Uronema (parasite)
e) Brooklynella (parasite)
f) Marine Flukes (parasite)

ok.. thanks.. I am now thinking the hog fish might be the issue.. but not sure.. will try a bacterial solution maybe and see how that works.. really have not seen hog take one nip or be aggressive in any manner.

When I first added my foxface, I noticed his fins getting nipped. Didn't think any of my fish would be going after him, until I witnessed my female Ocellaris go after him one evening. So, the moral of the story is, don't assume your fish will behave. :)

And sometimes I have the feeling they know that they are "misbehaving" because they wait until you are out of sight before doing it.
I had that a lot with my fish.
