Howdy all, just seeded my tank with my first live rock. I have a lot of yellow sponge on the rock. I know they "eat" phytoplankton, but I'm not sure how to get that in the tank; do they sell phytoplankton? Any help is appreciated.

They do sell phytoplankton, but being that your tank is so new, adding this stuff will probably only foul the water up. It might be best to wait until your tank has matured a little bit and you have other things in the tank that will benefit from this green water as well. GL.

Thanks! What else would eat phytoplankton?

Check out that link above. I think they mention a few. ;)

Sponges just grow off all sorts of things. I've never fed phyto and I maintain a blue tubular, yellow ball, and what may be more yellow ball---stuff just came on the rock.
