Starting to plan a ground up tank build. I have a largeish archway in my kitchen (thanks to the previous owners dumba$$e$)

The idea: Short stand maybe two or three feet with a five foot tall tank and lighting recessed into the archway the length of the archway is approximately 45" and the depth I can reasonably use is approximately three feet.

Question 1: For that size is the depth going to be to shallow?

Question 2: Glass or acrylic? Both have their merits

Question 3:less wont suffice for this size tank will they? (not a set out there I have researched that will work and metal halides would be to hot for a reccessed light fixture)

Any other advice is dually welcome

What are the dimensions of the space available again? LXWXH you are going to have total for the stand and tank? If your getting a custom build i think most people deal in acrylic for that but if you buy a standard tank I would go with glass. I know its heavier but its something you dont move all that often and glass is MUCH more resistant to scratches. Also they make lights for anything and I have done a ton of research before I bought mine so maybe I could help with that.
