I started using reef crystals a couple of months ago with the intent to put coral in both of my tanks. Both tanks are nano tanks and both of them are testing high for magnesium, alkalinity, and calcium.
I've decided that in my 29 gallon I am only going to have the mushrooms and the fish that are already in there.
in the 20 gallon I will keep some hard coral and a few softies. currently I have Duncan coral, GSP, and Kenya tree.
I plan to add some NPS corals like Sun coral.
I'm not happy with my tank levels and I don't dose. I just use the reef crystals.
Most recent test results in 20 were:
ammonia 0, nitrites 0, nitrates 10(API), pH 8.1, magnesium 1600, alkalinity 11.5, calcium 565, temperature 79, salinity 1.024.
I'm wondering if there is a salt mix that I can use successfully on both tanks, even if I need to dos the coral tank a little. I would like to see my alkalinity closer to the ocean's.
