Hey guys,

I am having a weird issue right now. I recently got a new colony and I have noticed that all seem to have decent PE, but my back colony turned brown. The rest have colored up / kept nice color. I have all different types of sps in the tank and all seem to be doing well along with a mix of lps and paly/zoas.

The only thing I can think of is that he is not directly under the lights like the others, but is at the top of the tank. Been in the tank for 1.5 weeks.

Parameters: 24G Aquapod - Setup for 3ish weeks. 165watt Chinese led 12" off water. Blues @60% and Whites @25%

Alk: 8.5-9
Calc: 440
Mag: 1340
NitrAte: 0-5 (can't tell)
PHos: 0-0.25 (can't Tell)

I thought I had a better pic of the brown one but I don't. Will get one later. You can see it right in the middle in the back. I am also thinking my flow is to direct with the RW-8. It is on the lowest setting, but pulses right across the sps.

a week and half is not too long of time to really worry about a new coral. it may take months for a coral to color back up after a move. One thing that I have learned with sps is being patient. Things can go to s____ in a hand basket overnight and take months to recover. Generally a browned coral is lacking light or high nutrients and since the other corals are doing well I wouldnt suspect nutrients.
I would just let it settle in and not fret over it too much yet.

Okay. Yea I am just assuming he is settling in still. I guess having good PE but browning out confused me.

Will just give it time :)

You put a new coral in ..and a Old coral browned out ...

New ones take awhile to color up from brown. If an old coral previously colored up went brown. ..I'm thinking too little light, high nutrients, parameter swing.

1.5 weeks in your tank ..didnt see it on tiny phone ... they can take a month or more to color up as long as your tank has correct parameters etc
