so I see that brs has a delux single tube gfo and carbon .... and also a dual tube. they are the same price.. I don't not have one atm dose anyone have info on what one is better. ? it will be going on my 125g ... 155g with sump. I have read that the dual is can be a pain to get the flow right with one pump..? thanks for the info or any other product I should get instead. http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/filter-media/media-bags-reactors.html

I just bought the dual suppose to get it Tuesday. seemed like a more convenient item than the deluxe. It can be ran outside the tank too. Why would flow be an issue with a carbon or GFO reactor?

I am not to sure but I have seen that with the one pump the granular in them can be swirled around. I am really the wrong person on this subject but I would assume you could turn one side down with a valve. I have never ran Gfo and only ran carbon in the bags. I am thinking the Gfo may turn to dust or not work right with to much flow ?

Again this is from what I have read on here and could totally be false

I am thinking about the dual my self. Seems like you could has more Gfo and carbon. Compared to the delux with just one section

carbon can be ground to dust if its left to tumble for too long but that can be prevented simply by securing it in between two sponges that come with the set up. GFO is suppose to tumble if it doesn't it clumps together. I don't see flow being an issue at all. I think it looks like a great product. I bought the dual with mj1200 pump. 90 dollars seemed like a good deal compared to other reactors

Nice I can see that. Didn't know that. What size tank are you putting it on ? I didn't see a size chart or anything but they have jumbo version also. I would a sums the dual would be good for 150 g ?

keep in mind if you ever want to run carbon and gfo together in one reactor the deluxe will prolly not be big enough for 150g I could be wrong

dual would be plenty for 150 im putting it on a 125g with about 20g sump

Yeah I think that's what I am going to do. Sounds like it is more versatile with the separate chambers

Ive been eye balling the apex and I just can not justify the need to buy one. Every part of me wants one but I just don't think I would use it enough to spend 500 bucks on. I think I just need some convincing.

Another nice thing about buying the dual reactor is that you can change out the carbon and GFO independent of each other. The GFO is usually good for about a month but you normally would want to change out your carbon more frequently.
You save a bit of money in running 2 reactors since you aren't throwing away GFO before it's depleted when changing out your carbon.

I use my Apex to run my Lights, Return Pump, Water mixing station, Heaters, Leak detectors, PH, Temp and Salt probes. It controls my exhaust fan my power heads my chiller my ATO and my auto feeder as well as my two part dosser. it sends me a text and email if anything in my tank is abnormal. I can also control each of these items with my eye phone.. I would say it was the best money I have spent on my tank. No more of those timers that kept failing and it adds the safety redundancy that i needed to help bring peace of mind with all of this equipment in my home.
it took awhile to get it set up and I still could take advantage of many more control features. My advise for anyone considering one is to read up first. don't try to take it all on at once you can slowly convert your tank over to your Apex. Also I used a computer support person to help me with the internet connection however since then they have upgraded to the fusion so it may be a little easier now.
Hope this is helpful to anyone considering it. Joe O
