Can I cycle with macro

Can I cycle my tank with macroalgae in my sump? Pretty sure I can but it will just take longer!? Also how long should I run my lights for during the cycle?

What do you mean by 'cycle with macro'? I read the whole thing but is still confused. Do you mean using macro to cycle, or going through a cycle whilst there is macro there?

Lol sorry! going threw a cycle while there is macro in my sump. I don't think u can cycle a tank with macro by its self
