I don't have one in the tank. Well I never saw one or bought one. I do have hermits thought.

They are pest nudibranchs that hitchhike on corals, LR, etc. They are very small and hard to spot, but are never far from the coral that they eat. Check under the monti for them and/or there eggs. Do a search for montipora eating nudibranchs and you'll get a sense of what's coming. Act fast or you'll have an uphill battle. I just got over battling them myself. I did an extra long dip in Revive to get rid of them, almost killing my monti in the process, but got rid of them. Not trying to be an alarmist, but better safe than sorry.

Thanks for the advice

Look for bits of "dust" around the margin of the white areas. IMHO that is a by product of nudis munching away. When not actively feeding, the nudis themselves often hang out just over the edge of the plate out of the light.

So just go buy a coral dip and whSt dip it ever night

Ive had this happen where detritus settles on monti caps, make sure your flow is sufficient across the plates to avoid collection of crud.

It won't blow off

+1 lots of time detritus settles on the coral and while it might blow off later and you never noticed it, it can leave behind a white patch where is was. If it is not nudibranchs, it is probably detritus that settled at one time, as that is pretty common to have happen with montipora corals, especially plating ones.

Ok the flow isn't directly on it. So maybe I will try increasing the flow. I didn't notice And nudibranchs but they are tiny so I'll try both

Ok I found what it was. I targeted feed the monti for the first time. But used freshwater. Like directions said. Hit the monti in that spot. Wasn't even thinking

I don't think freshwater would have cause it

Anybody else think it might be freshwater. But happened in one day. And it hasn't gotten bigger in past 3 days. Just looking for opinions

Nope to the fresh water. You have any euphyilla coarls (hammer ,torch, etc)? I've seen polyps detach and sting corals in that fashion.

Usually the nudis munch on the edges. They don't go to the middle and back. Looks like a local irritation and should come back assuming everything is OK.

I still think it's freshwater. I **** it pretty hard with a syringe And it was right around empty about 3 cc of water on it. Next morning woke up and saw the white spot. Didn't realize I did that. But I write everything down I do in s callander this way I can analyze trends

Also could've been mucus from a softie landed on those spots? But if you blasted it pretty hard with freshwater, you could've damaged those areas? While treating my cap for nudi's in dip, I blasted it quite a bit and had a lot of damage throughout the piece and has since recovered and looks even better than before.

I have a candy cane coral that was letting out a lot of mucus. Maybe it landed on it. I mean it's far away but hey you never know

Just taking a guess here, but has your nutrient level changed recently? More specifically from high to low? I personally have noticed this myself in montapora but not exactly how yours is showing. Usually when I had issues with it, it was more like white dots splashed all over the coral.

Water is good. I mean calcium in little low 400 to 420. But just got brs 2 part. Do will try to raise thst up w little. Alk is 8. Little low. But has been stable and been dosing a little everyday to keep it stable. The white spot hasn't gotten worse and don't see any nudibranchs when I pick coral up. Will keep and eye on it and see. If it doesn't get worse I think i should be ok.

What has changed in your system for the coral to bounce back?

Nothing really. I been dosing 2 part. Everyday instead of trying to guess with calcium and alk. But I really think blasting it with freshwater
