So this fish was labeled as a grouper at LFS. There was no doubt in my mind that this was a female fairy wrasse. I bought it and put it in my QT. My initial thoughts were that it's either a Lubbocks or Yellow Fin female fairy wrasse. Could this also be Cirrhilabrus roseafascia? Thanks.

Looks like a fairy wrasse to me. It reminds me so much of my 6-line wrasse.

C. lubbocki and flavidorsalis are possible ids though I would lean toward rubripinnis. It is certainly not roseafascia.

Thanks. You are right and here's why. Now that I think about it the LFS said it was red parrot fish, not a grouper as I stated in my initial post. Red Parrot Fairy Wrasse is one of the common names for Rubripinis. I was hoping it would be a female Lubbocks. I would like to have a trio of them and females are not as easy to find at fish stores.

I feel pretty strongly about rubripinnis on the ID.

The structure isn't right for the lubbocki complex.
