my refractometer always shows 68 degrees my thermometer in tank shows 80 the little sticker thing shows 78. Why cant I get my refractometer to show the correct temp.

Sounds like 69 degrees is your room temperature. A common misconception is that temperature compensation means it will compensate to the water temperature, when in fact it compensates to the ambient temperature.

I also have this refractometer. A simple trick is to hold your palm against the silver ring until it reaches 80. Then put your sample in.
