Do you have any better pics? Octos are very similar. Any pics of the mantle-to-leg ratio?
For future reference, octos have beaks, can bite, and are venomous. Blue-ring octos will kill you. It's not wise to handle octos unless you know what they are and can keep them calm.

I am guessing you are in the Caribbean somewhere, because anyone on this forum wouldn't be dumb enough to go pick up some small unidentified octopus if they were in the south pacific.

I understand the photo op and all, and I have played with a few octos on night dives and such, but I am not sure how I feel about grabbing one, throwing in a red cup and playing show and tell with it.

I didn't grab it 'knowingly'. It came in a conch shell that I collected.

You were handling it, though. That counts as grabbing it, even if the original catch was accidental.
