View Full Version : Jebao RW-8 kinda loud

Picked up one of these power heads a few days ago, loving the wave action, but it's making a slight humming sound, definitely louder than my koralia power heads. Will the jebao quiet down after it breaks in? I've read a few reviews saying they were silent.

FWIW I have the rw-4 and it was dead silent out of the box. Good luck.

I also just purchased a rw-8 and it seems loud as well. But this is my first powerhead.

I got it in the first wave mode level 3 speed and I can hear it across the the room every time it goes on. Now it just went into sleep mode for the first time, constant flow, 1 speed and it's now pretty silent on sleep mode.

I have 2 rw-15's at 75% and I can only faintly here them when I'm standing next to the tank so if you are hearing it across the room thats probably not good.

I had a pair of RW4s, dead silent from the start. Upgraded to 8s for better flow and they were a little noisy out of the box. Not bad, but noticeable. I put them in a 5 gallon pail a little over half full and ran them for a few hours balls-to-the-walls, now they're quiet. Just a little hardly-audible purr when they kick in for W1.

I have 2 RW-8's. Can't hear them at all unless I am right over the tank.

What is the difference between the wp model and the rw's? Are the rw's more quiet than the wp-10s?

i had two rw8's in my 75 gallon for 5 months, they were fairly quite in the low settings, but at higher settings were a bit louder, but not significantly louder, it was an acceptable noise level i would say

What is the difference between the wp model and the rw's? Are the rw's more quiet than the wp-10s?

I know the RW got a new pump and impeller compared to the WP as well as the programming options were expanded for the RW models. I am not 100% on this, but RW8 has the same flow rate as the older WP25 in a smaller package.
