Hi everyone,
I just recently upgraded my 90 gallon to a 120 (5ft long). I spent 3 hours aquascaping the other night and wanted to get everyones opinion. I feel like it looks to artificial... like a wall, but perhaps it's just me. I was surprised at how long it took to aquascape. Does it appear that I have too much rock?
I know it's all opinion, but would like to get feedback and suggestions.

It looks good, but I agree with what your saying, it does look somewhat artificial.. plus putting rock against the glass is going to trap some detritus and things. I think you did a great job thou... maybe put some rock more toward the front glass just a tad and then work back..

+1 on it looking a bit artificial. Good, but artificial. It might look better when the coral start getting bigger, but that would take a while. I'm no artist though, and I'm not happy with my current "wall" either. Maybe extend one side out to the front and make an "L" shape. might help the look as it woun't be so centered in the tank and symetrical.

I try to avoid the wall, or pile of rocks look. I think this is a 2 person job. In my experience I get best results with a bossy wife and a 6 pack of her favorite IPA.

for me, it looks a little artificial, "top heavy" and 2 dimensional. i personally like it more 3D and not so much wall-like. might try adding a few pieces at the base running towards the front of the tank to give it some perceived depth. But at the end of the day, what makes you happy is what you should go with.

It looks good as is but it can look really good with more depth. IE rocks placed more towards the front and a little different height in rock so its not as symmetrical. Don't be afraid to either put rocks in your sump or sell some off. I used to have a rock wall but so much crud got trapped behind and i liked it more as i pulled pieces out and made two off centered islands.
