You sure...?

The right combination of lighting could make these look like they do...

No?

Oddly enough most SPS corals do not look the way they do in our tanks either ;) If you scuba dive you would know what I mean.

But yes, these are a bit extreme on the editing or filters used.

Most definitely Asterodiscides truncatus.

Is someone actually trying to sell the ricordeas saying they look like this or is someone messing with us. If someone is selling these and not saying they are photoshopped I would run in the opposite direction as fast as I could. I would never deal with an unscrupulous person like that.

No... I just found these in a Google image search...

It is what attracted me to them.

But I guess they really do not look like this...

I've seen ricordias that are that brilliant. I can't speak to the legitimacy of these photos, but there are many color morphs of corals.

The scuba diving analogy really doesn't hold water because obviously corals are not getting blasted with controlled actintic lights developed by humans to bring out certain colors and fluorescent pigments of corals.

Pretty hard to photoshop video too. And this was shared by a reputable reef building website.

I tend to agree with this statement. With all the different spectrums available in bulbs, different combinations can bring out some brilliant colors that you would not see otherwise.

I have personally never seen those color morphs, but there is a huge range for ricordea - seems like new variants are brought into the hobby almost yearly now.

So... let me guess...

These pictures of an Acan are also not truly representative...?

Or the picture of the Rainbow Inferno Bubble Anemone?

Does the fact that everything else in the picture is blue, make you wonder?

I would look for more white balanced photos to show a good representation of what you're interested in. It won't show the great fluorescent colors you'll see under actinics only, but it's really hard to fake a nicely white balanced photo.

Well, it is obviously under Actinic lighting...

I mean, if it is a true representative picture under Actinic lighting - I am good with that...

The problem is, actinic photos are easily manipulated to bring out colors you will not see in person. It's very shady and I would ask for a white balanced photo to see what it truly looks like, then you can further determine if the actinic photo is possible or not.
