I just set up my 93g rimless cube which is still cycling, it is a shame to think on putting a lid on this beauty. Any ideas, experiences or advice you guys can offer. 30x30 rimless cube.

All fish can jump. Some fishes are highly likely to jump.

this would have been a good question to ask before you set up a rimless tank. all fish can jump, and for many species it is simply a matter of when. Keeping a tank without a canopy or other lid is irresponsible.

Ok , thanks guys, but i know is lid is " a must." I was simply asking for ideas or pics of rimless lids. I know all fish jump, but i've seen many tanks without a lid, including Julian Sprung's Personal Reef Tank.

Rimless tank look great, but the fish do jump.
I am buying a new tank, and did not go rimless for this reason.
Try the window frame with some plastic netting on it. BRS sells kits.

I made mine from BRS netting and wood trim. I just take it off and set it to the side when I am looking at the tank. When I am done I put it back on no big deal.

Thanks. I really like the rimless tanks it makes maintenance and aquascaping very easy and when you are done just put the on the net. Its also nice to kill all the pumps and get a top view of the tank.

I have a solution for you. I had the same issue on my 93. I created a cover that sits inside the tank as aposed to on top. Ill post pics when I get home. Its a lot less noticeable.

When I was looking at tops I couldn't tell the diff between these $12 frames http://t.homedepot.com/p/New-York-Wire-5-16-in-x-48-in-Aluminum-Screen-Frame-Kit-FSP8495-U/100397101/ with some mesh, and the $45 brs kits?

I have a 60 cube and have lost two fish to jumping in 8 months. One was a firefish, to be expected, and the other was a clown which I think was chased out of the tank by the three anthias. I never put a screen on it

The need for a lid is greatly exaggerated on this forum. I've kept multiple rimless tanks over more than 3 years. Never had a fish jump. Look through some of the great tanks and TOtMs, many are rimless.
Some fish jump no matter what (dartfish, wrasses, anything that looks like a missile), you can't get them
Some fish can jump but won't without reason (blennies, clownfish etc). If you have a peaceful tank with room and good feeding i am comfortable the wouldnt jump
Some fish just dont have the body to be jumpers (angels, tangs, cardinals etc)
It's still a good idea to put one on. But tere are plenty of people who do rimless and don't lose fish to jumping.
Let the rhetoric and flames begin

I'm not taking any chances with expensive wrasses. I've had one jump while cleaning.

Here's a pic. Simple screen kit. You can find the clear mesh on Amazon (cheaper than brs). I just made it to fit the inside dimensions then epoxied some thin clear acrylic tabs to each corner to overlap the glass.

What did you use for the frame of the mesh. It appears brown - was that part of the kit?

For those that use screens are you able to mount fixtures with legs over the tank with the screen or would you have to make screen to go around legs?

Exactly...
Noticed one of my Crosshatches try to jump a few nights ago when I turned on the light in the room the tank is in late at night.
Just got spooked.

I did the same as tommyboy but didn't think of using the corners. Good idea there, I just epoxied 2 pieces on the side and if you don't put it on right it tips into the water.
