I used this product to affix two pieces of unstable liverock together and now my skimmer is going nuts! Directions say to turn off skimmer 36hrs....well its been 72hours and skimmer is over producing like crazy. I am letting it run and emptying every 5 minutes hoping it gets the epoxy out of my system....is this a good plan or does anyone else have a better idea? I did a water change with no change.

I've used it before and it takes about 4-5 days for my skimmer to calm down.

Hmmm..I just used it last night and haven't noticed anything different in the skimmer, I have with other epoxies though. Probably has to do with epoxy to gallon ratio I suppose

If your skimmer cup has an overflow drain, you can hook that up to a 5 gallon bucket and skim as "dry" as you can. Monitor whil you're home and see if it slows down. It'll probably take a good bit of water out, but can be replaces with fresh water. Would be more effective than a normal water change.

I have used JB Weld Water Weld for years, with 0 issues with my skimmer or anything in the tank.

This.
If I use a "normal" amount it's fine, but when I use a lot the skimmer goes nuts. The solution is to turn up the skimmer and drain it with a hose. It will eventually stop overflowing and then you can cap it again and use it normally.

I let the cup fill up multiple times and emptied it out replacing with fresh saltwater....after dumping around 1.5 gallons of skimmer water things have finally settled down. I like the ease of use of the stuff but not the side effects. I may try the JB Weld stuff or stick with superglue gel from now on. Thanks all.

I might switch to JB weld water next time I need some because Instant Ocean epoxy makes my skimmer go crazy. I just epoxied about 6 frags and my skimmer went nuts for 8 days afterwards.
