I've been looking into getting a custom tank built ( glass) and so far two places offer a one year guarantee. Which way should I look at such a short warranty? The builder likely makes good tanks but doesn't want to deal with customer mistakes ( leveling etc..)
Or, the tanks are made quickly and not built to last ?
My experience with Oceanic, hagen and perfecto was guarantees of many years, so this one year deal concerns me.

Aren't they installing it for you? If its not a big custom tank, perhaps you are better off getting a branded aquarium.
Red Sea has an amazing new Reefer series if you like the rimless look.
Btw what are the guarantees on Oceanic? Are they still selling tanks as Oceanic?

I think oceanic is gone, I was referring to the lifetime guarantee they included 20 years ago. I'm done with small cubes or rectangles I want a large shallow. Is acrylic cheaper than glass ?

It depends on the size aquarium you're looking at. For my 360 it was considerably cheaper to go acrylic, but that will depend on where you get quotes from, ultimately.

Who's the builder? Coast to coast offers a 10 year warranty if you use their stand. 5 years for Miracles.

Most custom builders provide one year warranty not guarantee (big difference). In this industry, I am always skeptical about companies that promise long warranty periods. They always come up with reasons to deny the warranty when something bad happens. There are many stories on here about, supposedly, very reputable companies denying the warranties out right or find an excuse to put the fault on the owner. C2C promises 10 years when you buy their stand, but have you looked at their prices? They probably can replace the entire setup 3 times and still make profit.
