Hey everyone,

Recently one of my three 175 watt MH ballasts began tripping the GFCI for my tank on startup. It will trip EVERY time it tries to power up. I disconnected it while shopping for a new one and now I've got another ballast that is tripping the GFCI, but only after it's been on for 5-6 hours. After it trips, I can reset it and the ballast will power up normally. The first ballast that went out was an Ice Cap, this other one is a Vertex. Is this normal for a dying ballast? I've never had one go out before. Could there be something else going on? Since I've had those two ballasts offline nothing has tripped.

Second question, do any of you have experience with the Lumatek E-ballasts? I currently have 175 watt bulbs but am thinking of upgrading to 250 watt bulbs in the future.

I would try replacing the gfi. They go out from time to time.
