ell since we have moved and I finally have my 185 set back up and running it's time for another build. This time we are going to do seahorses. Fascinating little things, I am stuck between redi and erectus, I will not be doing dwarf, to many issues.

I picked up a pre drilled 55 last night, I have lots of extra equipment from previous builds so I think I am good there.

I scored this beauty at a local Lfs for a check of a deal

I had been working on a tank stand for the last few nights but had to take it all back down and make it longer due to going from a 40 breeder to a 55

So just a little heads up on what's going to be an adventure. Please feel free to chime in with thoughts and ideas as were going

That's a good size tank for a few reidi and erectus.
Seems like you got a good start so I haven't any advise right now.
Keep going and tellin us how your doing.

Well it's been crazy around here, I did make some headway on the stand but I have a lot to do with the trim I bought

I agree whole heartedly about seahorses being fascinating creatures. Honestly their gentle charming demeanor has totally captivated me since I began keeping them last fall. They are well worth the extra work and effort.
You will be glad that you have that big skimmer. I started out with inadequate skimming and had to upgrade.
I started with erectus as I heard that they are a hardy specie and a good beginner seahorse. I like their outgoing personalities too.
I will be following your build.

Nice start. What are you planning for lighting, filtration, etc.?

Filtration........2 stumps, 1 for macro and a normal sump will be the other with a skimmer of coarse

Lighting.......probably 1 dual t5 light being rics and regular mushrooms don't Need a lot of light

Well here is the final product, started the cycle process today, so July or August I can get horses

But for now time to check out different colors of macro algae for the display so the horses have something to play in.

Came together real nice.
Good aquascaping with the rocks.

There are plenty of nice macro's available. Browns, reds, and greens.
Might need another month before really good ones come available (and costs come down) being early in the "season". But that's plenty of time to look around and see what's available.
There are a couple of sources out there that have cultured macro's. Ya got the time to look for some.

Nice build!

Have you thought of adding some nitrifying bacteria to help speed up the cycling process? I've had good success with Seachem's Stability.

HI,

Love the look of your tank, just a point are you going to cover your wave maker you can use almost anything like cut up tights (just so your sh wont get their tails caught in them.
