Red slime algae

Have had an outburst of red slime algae in moderately new reef tank. I've got phosphate levels under control now but the sand now looks like this.. If moderately new means within six months of set-up, I'd give it more time, assuming you're already on top of water parameters. Lighting could be an issue- is it exposed to much sunlight? Are your lights due for a change?
