So upgrading my old tank ive had for a while and decided a 40 would make a good mixed reef. Looking to keep mostly zoas and lps. Here is what i was thinking for fish...
2x ocellaris clowns
1x bicolor blenny
1x royal gramma
2x banggai cardinals
3x green chromis
1x fire fish
1x cleaner shrimp
1x blood cleaner shrimp
1x dwarf angel? (Flame, lemonpeel, bicolor, or pygmy)

Seems like a good mix but i feel its a little overstocked. Any suggestions?

In my opinion way too many fish.

Agreed, too many fish. But: With really aggressive skimming (or other waste removal), you could get perhaps half that number of fish. I'd avoid an angel. Maybe a small school of chromis, or just the pair of clownfish? The shrimp won't add as much to the load.

So id take out the chromis, angel, and firefish. Still too much?

That could work. Others will disagree, but the main thing to be aware of is aggression. If you're going for a pair of clowns, make sure they're actually a mated pair- your LFS should have no problem letting you observe them alone in a display tank getting along peacefully. Otherwise they can fight to death.
