Just mixed my first batch of salt water last night. Ran it for about 12 hours. It measured out at 1.03.

Is getting it down to 1.02 just a matter of simply adding RODI water until the measurement comes down?

+1 on procedure. Not sure how you're measuring the salinity, but typicaly people read it to 3 decimals eg. 1.026. only reading to 2 decimal places puts you at risk for wild salinity swings. Or perhaps you just wrote it like that for simplicity. Just thought I'd point out.

FYI, a typical reef tank's salinity is 1.025-1.026 and is also fine for any fish or inverts. If fish only, than you can usualy lower to 1.020 to save money on salt, and there are also claims that it helps prevent desease, though I'm not convinced.

Yeah i just wrote it for simplicity...and also b/c i measured last night and don't recall the last digit :|

I used a refractometer. Thanks for the tips!
