I've got a 125 gallon FOWLR with 29 gallon sump. Tank has been setup since September of last year and I constantly have diatoms. I can siphon it all off and it's back in a few days. In addition, I've started developing cyano on my rocks and in my refugium.

I'm running carbon, GFO and have macro in the refugium. I'm also only using RODI water. Only thing I can think of, is that I don't have enough flow in the tank or the sump. The DT has 3 generic 900 GPH (at least, advertised as such) power heads, plus the returns. Flow is very slow in the sump, so I need to do something to turn that up a notch, without blowing the sand out of the refugium.

Any suggestions? Was thinking about going with either a maxspect gyre or a couple of Jebaos.

Thanks in advance,
~CBM

Budget?

Cost effective would be a couple rw-15 but if you have the cash then go for a gyre or mp 40

Ideally as little as possible, while still getting the results I need. You think two rw-15s would be good enough? Just wonder how noticeable the difference would be for the added price of a gyre or mp40

Would just 1 mp40 or 1 gyre be sufficient?

Perhaps in addition with the other generic powerheads that you're currently running. I'd say two rw-15's is the way to go.

2 RW-15s will be plenty. They move alot of water.

I was checking into the RW-15's and I think they'll do just fine. The maxspect gyre certainly has peaked my interest though...I like the technology and how it creates the cross flow. But it's twice the cost of 2x RW-15s.
