I have a 38 gallon tank with 50 lbs of rock and 45 lbs of sand. I have 7 hermits 2 astrea snails 1 turbo 1 brittle star and 1 pincushion urchin. And 1 emerald crab. is that good or should I add more for algae control

How's your algae? If you have enough to feed all that and then some, you can add more. If not, then you'd just have to supplement their diet to keep them all alive.
