View Full Version : Starfish ID needed

So I found this guy on a rock this morning. I have astrea stars but this is significantly different. It is much larger and is not white.

I'm not exactly sure if that's an Asterina star or not, but it sure looks close. Maybe this one has all of it's appendages though, making it look larger than normal. Color is neither here nor there with these stars IME, if that is in fact an Asterina star.

I'd put it in the sump to serve down there.

Its about the size of a quarter at this point. First time I 've seen this one.

That's bigger than any asterina I know. It may be harmless, but many stars bother things. Let it be a sump cleaner.

Could be of the culcita species if 5 arms..
As best I could see it was 5 arms. I hadn't seen it before.

haha dead center right next to the spot of green algae. Kind of blueish in color.

My friend had a ton of those starfish. I mean 100 on his front glass. My other friend had the shrimp maybe I should intrude the 2
