Bought this 4 days ago and it was sold to me as a cup coral, a borderline sps/lps.

Wondering why I've never seen any polyps extended. It's in a moderate flow/moderate light area and I don't see any fish picking at it so I wonder if I bought something that really doesn't have polyps.

Any ideas?

Thanks

It does look like tubinara sp. to me, and it doesn't look to be that healthy. May be the photo.

That looks like a closed up green star polyp. That is what mine looks like closed.

I have LED lights so it's showing under shimmer. For the most part it's a rusty orange color and the polyps are all green but like I said they haven't extended yet. I don't think it's a GSP, I have one and this is an encrusting cup shape.

I'd say it does look exactly like a turbinara, do they typically show polyp extension?

IMO, looks like a some type of turbinara that possibly could have been dye.

The mixed color is due to the LED shimmer, it's a solid orange color under normal light

Just read more about these species, some are saying that it could take days to weeks for polyps to extend after being acclimated or stressed, so I'll keep at it and see what the next few days hold

Pagoda cup coral.

Not sure of the scientific name tubinaria something or other.

I have a large loves light and good flow... very hardy coral IME.
