View Full Version : Melanurus wrasse just added last night ,missing

So I acclimated a 3" melanurus wrasse i bought yesterday and it immediatley dove into my sandbed when i released it havent seen it since tank is covered didnt jump out , not in overflow ,not in sump , only thing left to check is sock Could it still be buried in the sandbed the next day ?

Its not uncommon for them to hide a day or so. Give hime a few days to adjust.

I've had one, definitely can bury themselves for extended periods especially as they're acclimating...

I got one about a month ago? Maybe 6 weeks. For the first week, I saw very little of him. He buried himself at night and hid in the rocks during the day. He eventually warmed up to the tank though and now he is the most active swimmer, by far.

It's not uncommon for them to hide in the sand for several days or more when first introduced. I wouldn't worry about it. Whatever you do don't go digging through the sand looking for him

Yeah will be hiding, will come out at night when the lights are off, a little bit more each day.
